So yes, most DEFINITELY talk to the people you see in the park. If it’s a good one, they’ll let you know, and if the park itself is okay but management is shady as all get-out, they’ll probably let you know that too. You should at least try to report them to your attorney general’s office or your state agency that oversees manufactured homes (I’d say Texas has a HUD department, though).
Simplicity meets contemporary when it comes to The Loft Home that is manufactured by Palm Harbors. One of the best manufactured homes on the market, The Loft is a 1-section mobile home that features 1,140-square feet, making it spacious for couples and small families. This mobile home offers a semi-open floor plan where the large chef's kitchen becomes the main focal feature. It is situated between the living room and dining room as the 2 bedrooms are at opposite ends.

Manufactured homes make a very safe home; however, just like a traditional single family home a proper inspection should be conducted. Hello found your views on site built and manufactured to be true. Toured a site built home didn’t even have a back door ? Their used to be a manufactured home builder in our town called Liberty homes it went out of buissness long ago .
Wind zone maps which divide the country into regions depending on the wind speeds that you could expect there. You need to make sure that your mobile home is suited to your location. Everyone in the household needs to know where the fire extinguisher is and how to call the fire department. You need to teach your kids about fire safety from a young age. Secondly, you need to make sure that your mobile home is securely anchored to the ground. In this case, permanent foundations made from concrete will work the best.
The Cons of Living in a Mobile Home
If you’re talking about just the tongue, you could probably sell it but should you ever need to move the home for any reason you’ll wish you didn’t. I’d hold onto it – it’s not worth much anyway and can be stored under the home fairly easily if it’s been cut off already. Why is it that none of the manufactured home communities are available for adults under the age of 55? It’s infuriating that young adults are left with zero affordable options.
Plus, with each chassis built specifically for the model a chassis would only work on another home just like yours so it would probably only be worth whatever scrap metal is going for. The house checked all the boxes at the time for a young married couple but has become a money pit. And checked EVERY option I had with materials and the different upgrades. A mid-priced manufactured home is often better built than a standard site-built home based on modern building techniques alone.
Who has the Best Mobile Home Insurance?
This can help to keep your house from being flipped or picked up by the tornado. Today’s mobile home can provide a great alternative to a traditional stick-built home. It’s no secret that senior citizens make up the vast majority of manufactured home communities. As such, many communities have age restrictions for individuals under the age of 55. Even though trailer homes are known for their affordability, among other perks, like any other form of housing, they have some drawbacks.
Depending on your exact area in FL and the age of the home, you may just have a manufactured home that was built to withstand up to 110 mph winds (there’s a video on Youtube of the test). That doesn’t mean you can stay in the home during a hurricane, but if it was built to Zone 2 or 3 HUD code with the correct anchoring system, it will be a very well-built home. The affordable lifestyle of mobile home living is perfect for anyone that wants to live life making memories instead of mortgage payments. Clayton Homes is the largest builder of manufactured and modular homes in the US.

However, the fallout of the Coronavirus and the subsequent economic downturn has caused home mortgage lenders to set tighter and more strict conditions. So, just as you do with every other investment you make in life, it is important to know that the home that you are considering is a good, safe investment. A home isn’t just the place you live and the place you raise your family; a home is more than that. Me and my wife finally decided to purchase a home from Clayton. We’ve filled out the application and awaiting approval. This will give us all the information we need to consider as we move forward and help us not to get lost in the blissful fog of “finally getting a house”.
Security – Installing an alarm for your manufactured home adds that extra level of security for your home and personal property. There are some new homes that offer an alarm system and others have been added aftermarket. You should know that a security system can come with an extra monthly fee too. If security is your focus, there are some communities that offer a guard gate, to give residents more peace of mind.
I had to jump a few hurdles to get into the park, but it was definitely worth the time and effort. It sounds like you’re taking the right steps by forming the tenant’s association. If this park is owned by a corporation I’d send them a formal complaint. Out-of-state owners often don’t know what goes on day-to-day in their parks (as long as the numbers look good and the reports are done they assume it’s all being ran properly). I do have to pay property taxes, though not very much (the equivalent of a month’s rent.) We have no pool or fitness centre or spectacular views, nor do we have community events. The advantage is that we are located five minutes walk from grocery store, drugstore, restaurants, hardware store — basically every amenity you could ask for.
I don’t know enough about them or how they would improve anything. Our park maintains common areas we have trash pick up weekly. I would love information and first hand experience with a resident association or HOA within a mobile home park. Schult Homes is a proud member of the Clayton Buckeye Home Building Facility. Founded in 1956, Clayton is proud to continue providing affordable, quality homes.
Our single wide is in a small town in southern West Virginia. We are currently living in North Myrtle Beach, SC for better work opportunities and a much better school for our daughter (her school’s roof collapsed and the entire building was condemned). We are renting here but hoping to save up enough to buy a double wide. Form a group and see if they management will listen to your complaints. In a lot of parks the owners have no idea what’s going on in the park as long as they get the money.
With that said, these are still great homes and can be a perfect home, as long as the buyer understands that the construction technique and materials used are different from a site built home. There’s little to no consumer protection for site-built home construction. At least with manufactured housing, you have a federal protection agency. Manufactured homes aren’t perfect and I’m certainly not trying to say they are.
